Template talk:SkillNav

From DFO World Wiki
Jump to: navigation, search

There needs to be discussions and proposals before making changes to this template.

Since this is now affecting a lot of pages. More care and effort should be made to editing this template.

Please make a proposal here under a new topic before editing the template. --FMageIcon.png Everspace (talk) 18:10, 27 May 2015 (PDT)

did my edit break something? it shouldn't be something that is visible with the way we currently use skillnav, the only time it is visible is when 'collapsed' is specified. i see the need when non-minor changes are made... if the diff should be reverted it should probably have been done via skillpage. ~dfmchfhf (T·C) 05:26, 28 May 2015 (PDT)

Awakening and 2nd Awakening

This is documenting what was changed.

  • On Template:SkillPage, any awakening skills would also have (Class) Skills. Example, before Ancient Library Upgrade would have Categories: Female Mage Skills, Passive Skills, and Female Mage TP Skills. Because of this the Template:SkillNav would place Ancient Library Upgrade into Female Mage Skills, under passive, since it fits the categories. SkillPage was changed so that if Type2 was defined, it would not include (Class) Skills and leave only (Class) TP Skills.
  • Template:ClassSkills also had the same problem as SkillNav with the DPL auto-generated, but all three pages have been "fixed" to a certain extent.
  • --Dfoplayer (talk) 19:19, 27 May 2015 (PDT)
didn't notcategory=tp skills filter this out in dpl? not sure if it's more handy to be able to see tp skills as well as normal skills under the category page, since we already have dpl generating class skill lists which makes these categories only helpful for migration... a "category:(class) skills" page would optimally display the template skill list and we shouldn't need a "category:(class) tp skills" page to keep the wiki cleaner. ~dfmchfhf (T·C) 03:36, 29 May 2015 (PDT)

Remove old templates?

Should the old templates be deleted? With the current template I see no reason to keep them.

I am talking about these: Template:NavSkillsAsura.

Yes, I will delete them when I see that all of them are no longer used. I have alot on my plate, so it may take some time.

EDIT: If you could, help by checking all of them and making sure that all these NavSkils are not being used, except for Users's pages and/or "The Great Skill Metastasis Project" page.

One example is Template:NavSkillsCrusader. It is still being used by a skill, which probably should be removed by editing the page.

Once you confirm that that the NavSkill is not being used by a skill or a character class, place

{{Delete|Old Navigation Template}}

at the top of the page and it will help me by showing up in my deletion list.

I went ahead and marked all templates for deletion with the exception of the monk skills. The linked monk skills (TP skills) however are removed from the game and labeled as such here.

I don't know what the take on 'Removed Content' is. Personally I don't consider skills to be history worthy.

'Removed Content' is for nostalgic reasons, but we can delete if necessary.

Thanks. I'll delete the templates soon.
