Quests (Season II)

[Dimensional Seal] Treasures on the Express Train

Level 68
Quest Giver Beren Vonnegut
Prerequisite Oceanic Express - Zeldine's Gratitude
Dungeon Pursuit! Express Train
Briefing Beren: "Ah, Adventurer! Everyone in Empyrean is talking about your heroism. I knew from the get-go you'd become such a great hero! Anyway, how much did the Imperial Army pay you? Not much, I assume? Little wonder there. You would think you deserve a couple mansions at that kind of feat. Gosh, this is making me angry!"

<Player>: "No, I don't need..."

Beren: "You don't need a reward, you said? How magnanimous of you! But you won't be young forever. Save while you can, so that you can live comfortably later in life. Speaking of which, I've got a good business proposition for you. According to my intel, some pirates have skipped town with chests full of treasures, having learned that the Kartel wouldn't last long."

<Player>: "Are you telling me there are remaining pirates?"

Beren: "That's right, and those pirates will continue their thieving ways wherever they go. They must be stopped, don't you think? I've used my network to figure out their travel route. You'd better follow them now. And get rid of anyone that gets in your way!"
Objectives Defeat 100 Floating Mermen in Pursuit! Express Train.
  • Floating Merman: 0/100
Upon Completion Beren: "Did the Mermen bother you much? Now the only thing left to do is find out about the treasures themselves!"

Quest Giver Beren Vonnegut

Briefing Beren: "It was easy to get ahold of the operation schedule of the express train, but that won't tell you when they're going to move their treasures. They're using some code to share the schedule with each other, so we'll have to steal their code. According to my intel, the pirates slip the transportation schedule in their favorite magazine to distribute it among themselves. Bring me the magazine, and I'll try to decode the schedule."

Level 68
Quest Giver Beren Vonnegut
Dungeon Pursuit! Express Train

Objectives Defeat Admiral Von Beoranan in Pursuit! Express Train. (To access the admiral's cabin, take Hotaru to the far right side of the train and ask for the location.)
  • Admiral Von Beornan: 0/1
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Admiral Von Beornan:

Admiral Von Beornan: "Ugh... What treasures? I've got no gold, no silver! You sank my train with everything I had left into the water!"

<Player>: "Maybe I should've gone easy on him... Err, what's this?"
Upon Completion Beren: "Welcome back! So, how did it go? Where are our treasures? What? This odd-looking rock is the only thing you found. You're kidding me, right? No? But the pirates' code... The magazine you brought me wasn't the latest issue! Can't you read?! The treasures have been in the sunken train all this time! Argh, I can't work with you anymore! We're done! You may be a hero, but you're definitely not good for business! Just take that useless rock and go!"

<Player>: "(The pirate admiral was able to recover his strength because of this rock, which I'm sure is an Interdimensional Fragment. This fragment is more valuable than any treasure, but if Beren doesn't want it, then I'll keep it.)"

Quest Giver Beren Vonnegut
Briefing Beren: "All right, let's do this again. I swear, I've never seen someone so untactful. If you weren't so good at fighting, then I would've ditched you a long time ago. Trust me, the pirates are moving their treasures by the express train. I just don't know when they're planning to move their most valuable treasures of theirs. They must be using codes to communicate with each other. Go find some documents that might contain their codes. I bet they have their documents hidden in plain sight."

  • Mermazine August Issue Page: 0/63

[Dimensional Seal] Find the Admiral

Briefing Beren: "The coded message says that an express train laden with their treasures will be passing by this place soon! All the other trains we've seen were decoys, but the next one should be real. The admiral must be carrying the most important treasures. Get rid of the admiral. He'll be hiding out in a secret cabin. You can do this, can't you?"
Objectives Defeat Admiral Von Beornan in Pursuit! Express Train. (To access the admiral's cabin, take Hotaru to the far right of the train and ask for the location.)
  • Admiral Von Beornan: 0/1
Dungeon Dialogue *Upon defeating Admiral Von Beornan*

Admiral Von Beornan: "Hah hah! Stealing treasures from pirates, you must think you're a pirate king. The treasures have sunken along with the trains you sank. Give me my treasures back!"
Upon Completion Beren: "WH-WHAT? YOU SANK THEM ALL? But what about the pass code...? Argh! This magazine was issued last year! Arrgghh, my treasures! Why the hell would they keep last year's issue so carefully? And couldn't you check the date when you found it? ...Don't give me that look. I'll give you what I promised! In the end, you're the only one who got something out of this. Hmph!"
