The Maleficents (Korean: 요괴) are one of many races introduced in Dungeon Fighter Online. According to Seon's account, "They resemble beasts, but are not beasts. These creatures have no hope for enlightenment, and their only emotion is desire. They only cause harm." Maleficents reside beneath the deepest parts of Empty Sea at a place called Fount of Tribulation, which is considered their base of operations.

• Being a variant on the word 'Maleficence', and derived from the Latin word 'Maleficus', it can refer to 'mischief', 'evil-doer', 'wickedness', 'misdeeds' or related to magic and sorcery.

In-Game

• In Dusky Island, Largo is referred to as a "Cacodemon", (κακοδαίμων), which are malevolent shapeshifting spirits in Greek Mythology, likely being another mistranslation within the Global Client.
