Lore

Lore Excerpt:

Among the many swordsmen of Pandemonium. not many would like to compete with Chermak.
Numerous sword wounds and torn flesh on his whole body ... The bizarre mask that hides his expression.
Anyone would be mortified if they set eyes on Bakira, the devil's sword, in his hand.
Often there are novice swordsmen who challenge Chermak to avenge their family or raise their reputation.
Novice swordsmen filled with confidence do not lose their fighting spirit even when they are torn apart one by one by Bakira. They find hope in Chermak’s unexpected mistakes and rough breathing.
However, this is how Chermak’s eerily grotesque character comes into play- he deliberately shows weakness to toy with his opponent.
‘Maybe I can beat him ...'
He plays with his opponents by leading them on until they have lost their limbs and combat skills.
In the end, he does not finish off his opponent. Rather, he destroys his opponent’s sword then disappears as if mocking him.

History

Chermak is first mentioned by Cobb referring to him as the "Devil from Border Town" that recently killed slaves who came to the Black Market and is currently tasked to chase down the Adventurer. When re-visiting the village, they first deal with the Valdes Brothers who are ordered by Trauma Yom to bring them to the Royal Casino, but due to the Abyss powering his body, Chermak refuses to stay down no matter how times he's been defeated continues to interfere, even attacking Tucla and Pakka.

While in District 9, The Adventurer along with the Valdes Brothers come across and defeat Silver Light Tagor asking for her help to create a ward to trap him as Tagor tells them to be bait circling around the district and stall Chermak. The crazed swordsman battles them once again in front of the ward only to be defeated again and gets captured this time as he tries to break free.

During the events in Royal Casino, Chermak somehow was able to escape Tagor's ward and encounters the Adventurer's group one last time before Yom uses Garum to devour him, killing the swordsman for good. He is briefly mentioned during a conversation between Yom and an unknown voice which happens to be Ricardo who was the one that broke Chermak free and sent him to distract the group. Inside of a hidden room in Fight Club, the Adventurer comes across Chermak's body along with several dead Kashipa members who were killed by Yom.
