Dark Axion's Cut-In

Description

Dark Axion is one of three Cosmo Fiends who guards the Logistics Base during Fiend War. He controls the power of darkness and is considered Light Euclid's brother despite being technically unrelated. He roams around the multiverse, desiring a shape and form of his own.

Move Set

  • Corruption Spawn: Axion starts off locked in a sphere as he summons corruptions pools on random spots of the map. Touching them causes heavy damage.
  • Blackout: When dealing 10% of Axion's HP, he'll get out of the sphere and turns the whole screen pitch black hiding within' the darkness.
  • Triple Slash: Throughout the whole fight, Axion will randomly slash at party members around three times. If a player is hit by his attack, they'll be affected by Dark Curse. If a player manages to counter Axion by hitting him just as he attacks, Axion will be knocked back for a moment and create a Pillar of Light.
  • Dark Curse: Being hit by Axion will curse the hit player once per hit. If three stacks of Dark Curse are accrued, the player will be unable to move or act until Axion performs Dark Sphere Explosion, damaging and removing the curse from them.
  • Dark Sphere Explosion: Axion teleports in close range of party members after several slashes and casts a large dark sphere around himself that explodes.
    • When 0-2 Dark Curse stacks have been accrued, being hit by the explosion adds one additional stack of Dark Curse.
    • When 3 Dark Curse stacks have been accrued (and the player is paralyzed), being hit by the explosion will remove all 3 stacks of Dark Curse, freeing the player.

Berserk

  • Pillars of Light: When Axion has been countered 4 times and thus 4 light pillars are present, all party members must move to and stay in a light pillar at all times. The pillars will migrate to 4 corners and move in an hourglass pattern. Not being in a pillar or accidentally leaving one will rapidly drain a player's HP and cause death after the pattern ends. Unlike Fortuneteller Rosaura's "Everyone is standing in a different light" pattern, any number of players can occupy the same light pillar.

After the Pillars of Light pattern ends, Axion will enter his groggy phase and become vulnerable for 12 seconds. If not killed by the end of this time limit, he will cast Blackout again.

Strategy

  • Axion shares something in common with Omnipotent Mateka, he has a counterhit mechanism during his Blackout phase. In order to defeat him, you must counterhit Axion four times - each hit will cause a light pillar to appear in the position he was in.
  • The best way to land a hit on Axion is when he fully spread his claws along with his eye visual effects.
  • Don't start Pillars of Light if someone in your party is paralyzed due to accruing 3 stacks of Dark Curse. The paralysis effect will continue throughout the Pillars of Light pattern, guaranteeing the affected player's death.
  • Axion will be groggy for 12 seconds after the pillars phase is complete, so wait for the Crusader/Enchantress to deploy Apocalypse (Male Crusader).png Apocalypse/Crux of Victoria.png Crux of Victoria/Marionette (Enchantress).png Marionette and use your strongest skills on him before he casts Blackout again.

Trivia

  • Axion's name is from a hypothetical subatomic particle postulated to account for the rarity of processes that break charge-parity symmetry. It is very light, electrically neutral, and pseudoscalar.
