“ | Hah hah hah. You're so foolish that you let the light's afterimages conceal the truth from you. Chaos is the necessary evil to usher in a new world. Resistance is futile. Just stay where you are and wait for Ozma's resurrection. | ” |
Devastar the Pureblood is one of the three Purebloods of the Black Order and the inheritor of Destructive Berias. During the events of the Black Order Resurgence, he is the orchestrator behind the Cypher disappearances in North Myre and the assault on the Nemesis Citadel in the Exile Mountains.

History
Born as a man named Joseph, he was once one of the few chosen priests who received the original revelation from Lemidios and fought alongside the Priest Order in the Black Crusade. However, despite receiving the revelation, questions about them lingered in his mind. After witnessing the atrocities made by the Priest Order during and after the war, Joseph grew disillusioned with the Order and wandered listlessly through the Dark Side, questioning his purpose, and ultimately decided to leave the Order.
Some time afterwards, he encountered a Pureblood who possessed the blood of Destructive Berias, and received a revelation from Ozma. With the aid of the individual, Joseph found his true calling, and was reborn as 'Devastar the Pureblood'.
For the years to follow, Devastar operated in the shadows while preparing for Ozma's return and combating the Priest Order. After the events of the Apostolic Crusade, Kazan's seal containing Ozma's soul began to weaken due to Grim Seeker activity in Los Chest. However, the effects were not permanent. In order to fully awaken and resurrect Ozma, the Black Order needed to first fully resurrect Kazan, which required Kazan's remains. Kazan's remains, however, were kept in a hidden sanctum within the Exile Mountains maintained by the Usir Order. To locate the sanctum, the Order needed to perform a ritual which required the sacrifice of someone with 'special' powers and a connection with Kazan.
Under Devastar's guidance, the Black Order resumed kidnapping individuals to increase their ranks using the False Stigma, methodically targeting the Cyphers of the city Grozny from North Myre. Upon sacrificing the Cypher known as Worm Deschamps via a special ritual, Devastar was able to locate the Usir Sanctum, and personally led an assault on the Nemesis Citadel to retrieve the Coffin of Extinction from the Usir Order.
During the assault, through the combined efforts of the Usir Order, the Priest Order, and the Adventurers, Devastar was defeated and killed. However, despite his demise, his mission was a success; as the Dark Knight, Astaroth of Fear, was able to retrieve the Coffin and escape.
Post-mortem, the Priest Order viewed Devastar's corpse as a valuable asset. But due to the toxic nature of his blood, the Order was forced to retreat. During this time, Devastar's blood was taken by the Black Order Revelator Calling Jade to proclaim Devastar's successor through the Ceremony of the Purebloods.
As an Enemy
Devastar makes his appearance in The Exile Mountains as the final boss inside of Extinction's Haven.
Move Set (1st Phase)
- Laser Shot: Devastar fires out a fan-shaped volley of lasers in front of him.
- Fission Sphere: He'll levitate and summons a dark sphere airborne that tracks down a player continuously firing down lasers at them.
- Laser Cross: He puts down a laser that spins in a counter-clockwise rotation. Move within the laser's direction while staying in the open spaces as a safety zone as coming in contact with those lasers can quickly drain HP and fatally kills anyone.
- Chaos Entanglement: He'll create a dark sphere that's able to grab onto players within a certain range. There is a Chaos binds you gauge below depleting and will explode after some time has passed.
- Berserk:
- Ward of Chaos: Identical to Prophet Ezra's Fanaticism in the Oculus' Abysmal Sanctum, Devastar gets in the middle section and creates a large pentacle around him with eight points as he prepares for an attack. In order to clear the pattern, all four party members are required to memorize the four light pillars that blink up on those points and must stay on one of each pillar while a Decode the Ward of Chaos time gauge empties. If this is successfully cleared three times in total, Devastar enters his groggy state for only 4 seconds.
- Transformation: Upon reaching 70% of his HP, Devastar pushes back party members to transform, beginning his 2nd Phase fight.
Move Set (2nd Phase)
- Mace Slap: Devastar at close range does a basic melee attack with his Mace, it can also inflict Stigma of Penance as a chance.
- Darkness Wall: He'll launch out a purple barrier that functions very identical to Female Crusader's Saint Wall.
- Stigma of Penance: Devastar's variation to Male Crusader's Hammer of Repentance where he'll go airborne slamming down his Mace at party members that'll knock them back. Even though the attack itself deals low damage, it actually places a Black Order brand above players' head making them unable to hit Devastar until it fades off.
- Energy Sphere Triangle: Devastar shoot out a forward dark energy blast forward, transforming into a spinning AoE triangle.
- Bouncing Sphere: He creates a large dark sphere and hits it with his Mace that'll track players bouncing around the map.
- Ground Laser Blast: After Devastar rises into the air, he marks the area in a circle in front and fires a dark sphere. When the sphere explodes, it splits into a number of small laser tiles moving around the floor.
- Spiral Mace: Devastar rotates three spinning Maces around him, dealing heavy damage and hitstun on contact.
- Execution: Devastar moves to the middle section as he launches a few dark red orbs above spinning around dropping down numerous swords onto the floor, then he'll fire out a large sword that'll create a roomwide AoE explosion. Before he performs the finishing attack, there is a golden orb that turns into a safety zone pillar randomly placed and all party members can enter this to avoid being fatally damaged.
- Chaos Constellation: Devastar stabs the ground with his Mace to create four portals going from 3,6,9, and 12 o'clock sections of the room, then begins releasing a series of five roomwide dark energy shockwaves afterwards. To avoid being fatally damaged from this, step into either one of the portals as it automatically levitates anyone inside until the pattern is finished.
- Berserk:
- Apocalypse: This time, Devastar summons forth six red crystals above him slowly rotate in a clockwise motion. Alongside those are two aircrafts that follow players and shoot lasers to the ground, those lasers will bounce back as soon as they hit the ground. Similar to Mecha Gizel's Manus Laser Cannon in Pandemonium War and in order to clear this pattern, all party members must guide the aircrafts to have their laser shots bounce back and break each crystal one at a time, if all six are destroyed before the timer gauge depletes, Devastar enters his groggy state.
- If the party fails to succeed, he'll jump upwards, pulls in everyone to immediately drain their HP down to 1, then proceeds to slam down with one final AoE shockwave.
Strategy
- Devastar is similar to Sarpoza for wielding high HP, defenses, extremely strong attack patterns with AoE advantage and having two phases that involves transforming into a more powerful being.
- For Phase 1:
- If you're caught by Chaos Entanglement, simply run out of it's range before the sphere explodes.
- Chaos Barrier plays out like Simon Says in which all party members must prioritize in memorizing each of those of four light pillars to clear the pattern successfully in a total of three times.
- Because of how very short his groggy time is and majority of stronger parties tend to skip his patterns entirely, have the Buffers deploy their respective Awakenings Apocalypse/ Final Judgment, Crux of Victoria/ Laus di Angelus, Marionette/ Curtain Call and use your strongest skills along with the Blue Crucifix buff activated.
- For Phase 2:
- Watch for the gold orb rotates around in Execution, that's where it'll land to create a barrier before the pattern ends.
- An easier way to break the red crystals during Apocalypse is to have all party members stay in one spot while either Saints or Seraphs can use their AoE healing skill alongside Light of Divinity to reduce damage dealt by the Aircraft's lasers.
- It's actually possible to survival Apocalypse if your party could't finish the pattern in time. Either recover with HP Potions and time your jumping when Devastar lands his attack or the Buffers can use Healing Wind/ Regenerative Aria/ First Aid of Love to avoid unnecessary casualties.

Trivia
