I've been looking for a way back to my world, but to no avail.

I guess I'll have to wait until the Void Rift opens, like Azalea said.

Hwarang Bihwarang is a member of the Grim Seeker Hardliners who are faithful to Soldoros. He initially appears as an opponent within Tower of Despair's Floor 78, assisting the Adventurers in becoming Azalea Lott's prophesized 'Refined Blade'. After the Tower departs from Arad, Hwarang and a few others depart with Soldoros and volunteer to stay behind as roadblocks within the Abysmal Sky Tower to buy Soldoros and Yang-Ull time for the Adventurers to unlock their true potential.

Hwarang would eventually make his return as an exclusive boss inside the Challenge Mode version of Sirocco Raid at Floating Castle (Sirocco). He later reappears in the Raid's Hard Mode difficulty during Phase 1.

Move Set

  • Bow Shot - He does a basic, frontline volley arrow shot.
  • Wide Shot - From going top to bottom, he'll charge up to shoots out a larger blast in a wide arc. If anyone is caught by the blast, they'll be sent across the room's opposite end and receives damage from it.
  • Aerial Fire - Hwarang goes airborne to fire down a spray of arrows on the floor, then lands down to make them explode.
  • Camouflage.png Camouflage - When performing certain Bowgun attacks, he can randomly teleport to a different spot.
  • HS-1 Friends.png HS-1 Friends - Hwarang can summon these to aid him in battle by firing out either energy blasts in a frontline, or dropping small Photon Bomb.png Photon Bombs that leave an electromagnetic field on the floor, stunning anyone who steps into one, and he's also able to shoot similar projectiles at players during this pattern.
  • Windmill.png Windmill - He'll run into the middle section and performs his version of this skill that's able to pull in players, then follows up with a Aerial Fire afterwards.
  • G-14 Buster.png G-14 Buster - Hwarang throws out Grenades in a circular motion that explodes on the floor, dashes over to the left side and fires at another row that's thrown out.
  • G-18 Freeze Grenade.png G-18 Freeze Grenade - Hwarang throws a volley of Freeze Grenades in the air, moves away and detonates them with an arrow shot.
  • Special Forces 'Black Roses'.png Special Forces 'Black Roses' - Just like the Male Spitfire's First Awakening skill, Hwarang can summon his Black Roses to attack players by firing out projectiles. But his version allows him to have the Black Roses target in on party members to have them explode.
  • Berserk
    • Red Arrow: Hwarang summons an HS-1 Friend to capture everyone in the middle section, runs over to the right side as he shoots a large blue arrow that pins them down at the left room's edge while preparing to charge up for his attack. In order to successfully escape, use Bullet Time and move forward within the narrow passage before Hwarang fires a Red Arrow. The HS-1 Friend will occasionally stun players if they step out of the passage, and if anyone doesn't make it out in time, they'll be dealt with fatal damage.

Strategy

  • Hwarang often tends to move around a lot and wields an array of AoE-advantage attack patterns during his boss fight either on Hard or Challenge Mode, but isn't extremely difficult.
  • He doesn't seem to have a groggy outside of his Red Arrow berserk, though is left wide-open to counter damage upon escaping during the pin down portion of it.

Trivia

  • His name and overall character design takes inspiration from Ancient Korea, as Hwarang (花郞) Flowering Knights were an elite group of male youth who hailed from Silla, one of three Kingdoms in the Korean peninsula.
  • The No retreat, no surrender line is one of "Five Commandments for Secular Life" created by Won-gwang, a renowned Buddhist monk, scholar, and teacher of the Silla kingdom.
  • Both him and Marcelo are the only two Grim Seeker Hardliners that hail from an ancient kingdom.
