Anton on the Run

Level 85
Quest Giver Navarre
Briefing Navarre: "I was going to tell you about the situation. There has been a change in Anton's movements. I think he's planning to head somewhere else. We will continue to follow him so we can put an end to all this fighting. What about you? Of course, I know you're determined to defeat Anton, but this is such a serious matter that I have to ask you for something. Things will get tougher, but we'll appreciate it if you continue to lend us your support. I'll send a letter of recommendation for you in advance. Just take the gunship on the landing pad and go to the port. There's a ship waiting for you. Tell Naen Siger in Noble Sky that I've referred you to her. Excuse me, I have to go get ready now."

Level 85
Quest Giver Naen
Briefing Naen: "Um... Ah, hello. So your name is <Player>. Yes... Your name was on the letter of recommendation. I'm Naen... One of the Seven Shards, and I was forced--I mean, I volunteered to be an adviser. I-I can answer your questions, s-so t-tell me if you want to know anything, b-but please keep your voice down. I-I hate it wh-when people are loud. Um... And... um... Oh, you can just go over th-there. I-I w-wouldn't mid if you don't come to me so of-often. Ah, she's leaving! Commander-in-chief of Empyrean

Level 85
Quest Giver Woon
Briefing Woon: "Allow me to reintroduce myself. I'm Colonel Woon Lyonir, aide to Commander Jackter Elrox. Let me brief you on our situation. Anton moved out of the Power Station and is on his way to the center of the Sea of Twilight. His destination is presumed to be the Castle of the Dead, the same as yours, Adventurer. Since we don't know when or how the castle reveals itself, we need to keep a watchful eye on Anton. That's all. Should you have questions or need something, you can always tell me or my subordinates."

Jakter: "Mm? Are you the adventurer? Sorry to interrupt, Colonel Lyonir, but I'd like to talk to this adventurer."
Objectives Talk to Jakter the Eagle Eye. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Meet Jakter: 0/1
Upon Completion Jakter: "You must be the adventurer. Welcome. I'm Jackter the Eagle Eye. Just call me Eagle Eye. That nickname from my soldiers really stuck, and now even the government officials call me by that."

<Player>: "Ah, you're the commander-in-chief of the Empyrean Royal Army..."

Jakter: "Do you know me? I'm the commander-in-chief, all right, but you shouldn't treat me differently from the other soldiers. I've just been a soldier longer than everyone else. Hah hah hah!"

If Player is M. Gunner:

<Player>: "Oh, really? You're more down-to-earth than I thought."

Jakter: "Down-to-earth? Hah hah hah! I like that."

If Player is F. Gunner:

<Player>: "...?! Co-Commander Eagle Eye?!"

Jakter: "Don't be so nervous. I've heard you used to be one of us. It makes me happy that you've continued to contribute to your country as an adventurer since you returned from the Underworld. Good job!"

A Commotion on the Ship

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Briefing Jakter: "I've heard you defeated a bunch of Apostles and contributed to the peace of the Underworld. I expect more great deeds from you. I've also heard in detail how you fought in Ghent. Don't you want to know who told me? Hah hah, I've received Zeldine's report, but it was someone else who told me about you. Hey, are you all right? Say hello."

Arsonist Bentinck: "...Hmph."

<Player>: "Err?"

Jakter: "Do you two know each other? Good. It's good to have friends in a situation like this."

<Player>: "What's going on? Why is he here and not in prison?"

Jakter: "Our army is spread so thin that the government has decided to give Kartel surrenderers a chance to redeem themselves. Of course, not all of the surrendered ex-Kartels will get this chance."

Woon: "Commander, he's still a prisoner. You shouldn't be seen being friendly with prisoners like him in public. People will talk."

Jakter: "You have a point, but you didn't have to say that in front of him. Anyway, I have things to do. You're dismissed. Hm. What's this commotion I hear coming from over there? We can't have trouble right before an important battle. Could you go take care of it?"
Objectives Ask Hiram Klauf about the commotion.
  • Meet Hiram: 0/1
Upon Completion Hiram: "Like I told you before, we're not letting the Imperial Army get on board. We're in pursuit, so we need the lightest ship possible. And why do you insist on taking these foreigners to a dangerous place?"

<Player>: "(The Imperial Army? No...)"

Vaughn Walshuted: "Thank you for your concern, but we're fighters. We can fend for ourselves. As the knights of the Empire, we cannot just watch our allies heading to a dangerous place and not aid them. We've been fighting Anton with you. Let us see this through the end."

Nevillo Jurgen: "He's right. We're not fighting some regular foes. We're fighting Anton, who has brought chaos to all of Empyrean. We need all the help we can get for the sake of our people. I'll take that as a yes. Now, please try not to be discourteous to the Imperial Army. You'll only disgrace our country."

Hiram: "...Damn it, what are they up to? I'm happy that our chances of winning are better, but I can't trust these guys. Mm? Who are you? Ah, are you the famous adventurer? I'm sorry that you had to see that. I'm Hiram Kaluf, captain of the Coast Guards. Were we so loud? I apologize. But it's over now, so let's go back to the Commander. It's about time for him to give the briefing. Hey, Miss Naen! Let's go!"

Naen: "Ugh... Please don't yell."

Hiram: "Sorry. Come on, let's go."

Black Smoke Surrounding Anton

Level 85
Quest Giver Woon
Dungeon Investigating the Black Smoke
Briefing Woon: "You came. I'm sorry, but we started without you. Let me continue. A thick, dark smoke released from Anton's body, at above sea level, is concealing the entire enemy. The inside of the enemy camp is not visible to the naked eye. Even heat sensors and supersonic equipment can't detect anything. The problem is that we don't know how to get rid of that smoke. We need to get close to it and investigate."

Jakter: "Our soldiers are low on morale. You're a hero of the Imperial Capital, so if you can investigate the cause of the smoke, it'll encourage our soldiers. Will you help?"

<Player>: "Sure. For a situation like this, a small group is better than an army."

Woon: "I'll come with you. I've been on Anton's body before, so I can help. I'll also collect some samples of the smoke while we're at it."

<Player>: "But you're the Commander's aide. Are you allowed to leave him unattended?"

Jakter: "Can't help it. You need a guide, this being your first time landing on Anton, but anyone else who can guide you is injured. Just be careful, both of you."
Objectives Explore the Investigating the Black Smoke dungeon with Woon Lyonir. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Investigating the Black Smoke cleared
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

Woon: "We've finally arrived. I'll investigate our surroundings. Please focus on fending off the enemies."

Upon entering the Boss Room:

Woon: "I don't think we should get any closer than this. We can be choked to death by the toxic gas released from Anton's mouth. Enemies are pouring out of Anton's mouth. I think they're using their powers to induce the emission of the smoke."

Upon defeating the Boss:

Woon: "The smoke is thinning. I think I was right about the enemies inducing the emission of the smoke."
Upon Completion Jakter: "I see, his lackeys were inducing the emission of the smoke... That means the smoke is not Anton's innate ability, so..."

Naen: "Eagle Eye, I told you. The s-smoke has similar substances as the smoke released from A-Anton's volcano. The s-smoke is originally from the v-volcano, but th-they must have rerouted it, a-and then given it some sort of magnetic property s-so as to make it circulate within a certain range... ...Oh. I-I'm sorry... I didn't mean to interrupt... Hah hah, no worries. What this adventurer saw backs your theory. Now we can change our plan."

Woon: "Yes, but I don't think the place we investigated is the main pipe for the black smoke. We might have to go down further to find it."

Jakter: "Okay, so we'll have to find the source of the black smoke."

Investigating the Black Smoke

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Investigating the Black Smoke
Briefing Jakter: "If his lackeys are responsible for turning simple smoke into a thick barrier of blackness, then they must be eliminated. We need the smoke gone so that we can see things clearly in the battlefield. Captain Hiram, we don't have time to wait until the smoke dissipates naturally. I want you to take your unit and go move the smoke away. Naen, assist Captain Hiram."

Naen: "O-okay. This chemical can be a-added to the flamethrower cylinder i-in the form of gas. I-it could blow up in our faces, b-but th-that's the best I can do, s-since we don't have enough time..."

Hiram: "...Let's focus on our safety."

Jakter: "Adventurer, you can wait until Captain Hiram finishes moving the smoke away."

<Player>: "Um, I'm sorry, but can I go with them? There's something I want to check. I won't get in their way."

Jakter: "Hm... I should say no, but if that's what you want, then go ahead. But don't take too long. Colonel Lyonir, go with the adventurer again. S/He needs help to navigate through the thick smoke."

Woon: "Yes, sir. Let me know when you're ready."
Objectives Explore the Investigating the Black Smoke dungeon with Woon Lyonir again. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Investigating the Black Smoke cleared
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

Woon: "We're here. I'd like to know what it is you want to check."

<Player>: "Something called the Black Nightmare has caused a lot of grief in Arad. I want to know if it has something to do with this smoke. This smoke doesn't have an evil presence like the Black Nightmare, but I can't be too careful."

Woon: "I see. Then I'll do my best to assist you with your investigation."

Upon defeating the Boss:

<Player>: "(This isn't working. I was hoping this smoke had something to do with the Black Nightmare, but I can't focus on my investigation because of Anton's energy. Enemies keep coming, and I can't have Woon keep fighting for me.) Woon, I'm done. Let's go back."

Woon: "..."

<Player>: "Woon? Are you hurt?"

Woon: "No. Let's go. ...Adventurer, I'm sorry, but do you mind addressing me as Lyonir? I don't like to be called by my first name."

<Player>: "Oh, all right. (I wonder why...)"
Upon Completion Jakter: "Welcome back. The Coast Guards also finished their task. Now we're ready to fight Anton. Now that the smoke that covered Anton's body has dissipated, it's time we stop Anton. He won't listen to us like a well-trained hound, so we'll have to use force. While Anton was in the Power Station, we tried to break his legs several times, but all to no avail. We can't even touch them, let alone shake them, without having Anton breathing fire at us. We've figured out Anton's fire-breathing pattern. We'll signal you, so you can evacuate the battlefield before it's engulfed in fire. Just make sure to get out of there without a moment's hesitation."

Hiram: "Got it. But as you know, that place is overrun with Anton's minions. We won't have the time to get rid of them all."

Jakter: "So Captain Hiram and his unit will distract them while the adventurer locates Anton's joint. When s/he signals us, we'll fire a missile at it. Evacuate as soon as the countdown for the missile begins, all right?"

Navarre: "Got it."

Jakter: "Adventurer, stay with Colonel Lyonir until everyone is ready to fight. You can use the time to ask him any questions you have."

Joint Destruction Operation

Level 85
Quest Giver Woon
Dungeon Destroying the Joints
Briefing <Player>: "So we'll try to stop Anton before he runs to another dimension, right? But how can we destroy his body? No weapon I tried can even scratch him."

Woon: "Doctor Naen can explain that more clearly than I can..."

Naen: "*Shakes her head*"

Woon: "...Maybe she's uncomfortable talking in front of an audience. Let me explain. We'll use missiles to destroy his joints. Most ordinary attacks are only absorbed into Anton, so we'll use Magtonium. When a certain amount of Magtonium is subject to shock, it absorbs environmental energy for a few seconds, and then explodes with power at least ten thousand times greater than its mass. Magtonium also retains its unique characteristics, even after it's absorbed into Anton. We'll let Magtonium be absorbed into Anton, and then explode, destroying Anton from the inside. Ah, it's the sortie signal. Time to fight. Good luck."
Objectives Clear the Destroying the Joints dungeon. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Destroying the Joints cleared
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

<Player>: "It's quiet here. The others are doing a great job distracting Anton. By the way, what's this suspicious energy? It feels different from Anton's."

Upon encountering Doom Plagnus:

<Player>: "This place looks empty... Ah, what's that?"

Upon defeating Doom Plagnus:

<Player>: "No... the Void Rift? Has he brought in more soldiers from the other side?"

Upon entering the Boss Room:

<Player>: "This looks perfect. I'd better contact the main ship."
Upon Completion Woon: "Welcome back. Thank you for your hard work. Now Anton is unable to move after suffering great damage to his joint. The next step is destroying his legs."

A Raid

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Naval Cannon Defense
Briefing Jakter: "Some of the units haven't returned, but we can't wait. Let's get on with the meeting. By destroying Anton's joint, we've bought ourselves some time, but he can recover from injury more quickly than we think. As I repeatedly say, even the smallest mistake can kill us and endanger all of Empyrean. Everyone must... What's going on?"

Naen: "I-it's...! Th-this is bad! On the instrument panel... Wah!"

Nevillo Jurgen: "The entire ship is shaking. What the hell is going on?!"

Naen: "W-we're under attack! S-so many enemies are coming t-toward us... I-I'm scared!"

Nevillo Jurgen: "Hmph, girl, you're useless. Elrox, how do you put up with such an incompetent individual? You're supposed to be here to stop Anton. We didn't invest so much in you and the Seven Shards, just so that you can lose your composure at the most inopportune moment. Clearly the Court isn't the only place spoiled by rotten apples."

Naen: "I-I... I'm..."

Jakter: "That's enough. We don't have time for the blame game. Colonel Lyonir."

Woon: "Commander Eagle Eye, Sir Jurgen, and Naen. Please wait in the meeting room. Everyone else, please return to your position and hold off the intruders. Adventurer, please go up to the bridge. We have a naval gun that shoots a cooling laser beam to keep Anton's volcano cool. Without it, Anton's volcano will erupt and its lava and heat will wipe out our comrades who are fighting on Anton. I'll send some troops after you. Please lead them and protect our naval gun. Godspeed."

Naen: "*Sniffle* G-Give me a moment... *Sniffle* ...Done. I'm sending jamming signals, so we should be okay now. B-but Woon? Y-You were hurt be-because of me..."

Woon: "I'm okay."

Jakter: "No, you're not okay. You're bleeding. You need to go to the infirmary."

Woon: "I'm okay, really."

<Player>: "I thought you were in the meeting room. Why are you here?"

Nevillo Jurgen: "What good does it do us to stay in there? I needed Doctor Siger to come up with a solution to stop the enemies, even if it kills us."

Advice

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Way to the Durable Leg
Briefing Jakter: "We were raided, but at least we protected our gun. Ah, Captain Hiram is back."

Hiram: "One of our gunships were destroyed on our way back, but we all made it back safely. By the way, the cooling beam was shot later than I hoped. Did something happen? Well, I can hear about it later. I should report first. Commander, an enemy has contacted us. She wants to talk to the adventurer."

<Player>: "Talk to me? Why?"

Jakter: "You'll know soon enough. Go meet her."

Nevillo Jurgen: "What? Don't you think this might be a setup?"

Jakter: "I'm not going to send the adventurer alone, and I want to know what she's up to."

Nevillo Jurgen: "I can't agree with this. The enemy might try to make a deal with the adventurer. We can't let him/her go."

Vaughn Walshuted: "I agree with the Commander."

<Player>: "...Vaughn."

Vaughn Walshuted: "I've experienced firsthand what this adventurer is capable of. S/He can survive any trap they might be planning. If she turns against us, then we'll just get rid of her. I say we should listen to what the enemy has to say."

Nevillo Jurgen: "...Very well."

Jakter: "<Player>, you heard us. Please go listen to what the enemy has to say. I'll send a special forces unit after you, just in case. If you become engaged in combat, then send them a signal."
Objectives Meet Brilliant Flame Agnes in Way to the Durable Leg. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Meet Brilliant Flame Agnes: 0/1
Upon Completion Brilliant Flame Agnes: "Thank you for coming. I'm Brilliant Flame Agnes, a Prime Tartan. I've wanted to talk to you in person. I understand why you're collaborating with the Humans of this place and want to interfere with us, but did you really have to follow us to the sea? We're only trying to go back to where we came from, and yet here you are, risking your life to stop us."

<Player>: "You killed innocent lives, and now you're running away because things aren't going in your favor."

Brilliant Flame Agnes: "I know Anton is one of the Apostles, as you call them. But we migrated to Pandemonium because we wanted to survive. Even now we're absorbing energy and fighting you because we want to live, just like everyone else. Why should we be hunted down for the decisions we've made for our survival? You're no better than I am--we're both fighting to live!"

Agnes's Warning

Level 85
Quest Giver Brilliant Flame Agnes
Briefing Brilliant Flame Agnes: "If you join us, then you don't need to be with those weaklings. You've defeated another Apostle. We'll accept you gladly. Join us, and I promise you we'll share this immense power we have with you and show you the truth about this world."

<Player>: "Why are you tell me all this? I'm just an adventurer. To me, you just look like you're running for your lives. Wherever you go, you'll lick your wounds, and then come to Empyrean for revenge, won't you? I refuse to be part of that."

Brilliant Flame Agnes: "You act like you know it all, but what do you really know about us or Anton? I see you're not willing to change your opinion about us. That leaves us no choice but to continue to fight you. Tell this to your collaborators: keep interfering with us, and we'll make things more difficult than they already are. And you'd better get ready. You've refused to offer I made in the name of Anton. You'll regret it and die in Hell."
Objectives Deliver Agnes's message to Jakter the Eagle Eye. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Meet Jakter: 0/1
Upon Completion Jakter: "Funny. So they committed all those atrocities for their survival. They're real pieces of work! They killed our soldiers who were running for their lives!"

Nevillo Jurgen: "But we don't have to pursue them if they're only trying to run. We've fought and driven them this far. I say we return and avoid making unnecessary sacrifices. I understand you want to avenge the soldiers that they killed, but please recall your forces before more blood is shed."

For the Peace of Empyrean

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Durable Leg Upper
Briefing Jakter: "I want to ask: why do you want us to return? What makes you so sure that they won't come back for revenge when they recover their strength?

Nevillo Jurgen: "Elrox, think about our situation. We only have a handful of regular troops, and the rest are ones drafted from the private armies of the nobility, ex-Kartels, and Imperial soldiers. They're the only surviving troops we have. If they die, who's left to protect Empyrean?"

Jakter: "That's my job to worry about. We have to fight. Our victory won't be handed to us by the enemy. We'll take it on our own. That's the only way to bring true peace back to Empyrean."

Nevillo Jurgen: "I see revenge has driven you mad. As of now, I'm stepping in as the regent and the owner of this ship. We're done fighting the enemy. We'll return and take care of those whom we have left."

Hiram: "Stepping in as the owner of the ship? Are you talking about the new article you slipped into the law?"

Nevillo Jurgen: "Yes. I won't let you kill the remaining flowers for the flowers that are already dead."

Jakter: "Sir Jurgen, you're smart. I assume you know about Bakal, who appeared a thousand years ago, better than I do. That tyrant Bakal terrorized us for a long time, and our ancestors fought back until they finally defeated Bakal. They taught us the value of freedom, hope for a better future, and resistance against violence. That's why we're fighting the Kartel and Anton. Anton is an enemy to us all, and he must not be spared from death. Soldiers, our goal hasn't changed. Whatever the enemy says, we will defeat Anton and bring peace back to Empyrean with our own hands. Grieve for your dead comrades and unleash your fury upon the enemy, but don't forget what we're fighting to protect!"
Objectives Clear Durable Leg Upper. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)

Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering Room A3:

Flame Krave: "You'll pay with your life for disobeying the Prime Tartan!"

<Player>: "That's... a dead Empyrean Royal soldier. He's desecrating his body!"

Upon defeating Gatekeepr Kratek:

<Player>: "You're cruel to the core."

Upon encountering Brilliant Flame Agnes:

Brilliant Flame Agnes: "You fool. You're only asking to get killed. So ignorant... So insignificant..."

Upon defeating Brilliant Flame Agnes:

Brilliant Flame Agnes: "Attention, all Tartan! Kill everyone who get in our way... without mercy!"

<Player>: "Ah, this...?!"
Upon Completion Woon: "Welcome back. We've confirmed that Anton has lost his mobility. The Commander is busy, so why don't you rest for a moment?"

Hiram: "Wha..? This guy's an Empyrean. How could he see this and remain so calm? Even an octogenarian would hit the roof in this situation. Only the Commander, Naen, and I knew about it. Even you didn't know until the end."

Woon: "No, I didn't."

Hiram: "We had to shoot missiles and dispatch so many troops to make that work."

Naen: "I-I had to stay up all night, too..."

Jakter: "Ah, you're back. Good job. Now that we successfully damaged Anton's legs, it's time we move on to our next operation."

<Player>: "I saw a gunship flying over in that direction. Who's leaving?"

Jakter: "The owner of this ship."

<Player>: "But there can be ramifications for this..."

Jakter: "I don't care. A general can refuse the orders of his king while on the battlefield. Ah, I've always wanted a chance to say that. I respected his authority as best as I could, but I have the right to evacuate civilians in times of emergency. Also, we don't need someone who constantly meddles, wastes our time, and distracts our soldiers from their duties."

Vaughn Walshuted: "Ooh, very nice, Commander."

<Player>: "..."

Hiram: "But Commander, Jurgen could have intervened this time to build groundwork for some other scheme of his."

Jakter: "Ah, enough. Soldiers shouldn't concern themselves too much with politics. Don't worry about me, and let's move on to the next step of our operation."

Naen's Tracing

Level 85
Quest Giver Woon
Dungeon Tracing the Energy
Briefing Woon: "We've received a report: our soldiers are retreating. They couldn't get rid of the protective barrier around Anton's volcano. We can enter the volcano without getting rid of the barrier, but it's supplying an almost endless amount of energy to the enemies within it. We'll have to find a different way."

Jakter: "Hm, even Magtonium couldn't penetrate the barrier, which means it doesn't absorb energy. It's simply a very powerful energy field."

Hiram: "Interference from Anton's Electric Current is so strong that our detectors are not working. It'll take a long time to find out where the barrier draws its energy from or find its weakness."

Naen: "..."

Jakter: "All right, then someone has to go there and investigate it. Captain Hiram, can you do that?"

Hiram: "Only Miss Naen and Lyonir have the ability to install new detectors. I'll have to communicate with the mother ship, but as you know, there's no reception around the volcano."

Jakter: "Right. Colonel Lyonir, can you go?"

Woon: "Yes, sir."

Naen: "Oh, Eagle Eye! I... I'll go. S-someone has to measure the electric current, b-but W-Woon's not good at it. I-I am. I'll go instead of Woon."

Jakter: "Naen, you've never been on Anton before. This is going to be more dangerous than what you had to do when we were raided."

Naen: "I-I know. B-but I'm one of the S-Seven Shards. Th-this is what I-I'm here for. A-and... Woon is not well. I'll go."

Jakter: "We don't have to debate. All right, you can go. But I'm sending you with an escort unit. Adventurer, I want you to cut a path for Naen as she traces the source of energy for the barrier. When you find it, destroy it and get out of there as quickly as possible. Naen, when can you leave?"

Naen: "R-right now... L-let's do this..."
Objectives Destroy the energy transmitter in Tracing the Energy. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Energy Transmitter: 0/1
Dungeon Dialogue Upon entering the Dungeon:

Naen: "Y-you'ved arrived. Um... G-give me a m-moment... ...Um... I-I think you sh-should head south. I-I'll tell you when you get close... P-please keep going..."

Upon entering the Boss Room:

Naen: "That's it--it's sending collected energy to the volcano. You sh-should destroy it."
Upon Completion Naen: "Wh-whoa... That was scary... B-but I can't believe I've been on Anton!"

Woon: "Doctor Naen, are you okay? You really didn't have to do it. I could've done it."

Naen: "B-but I had to do it... You were hurt because I cr-cried and t-tried to run... A-and we Seven Shards aren't just wasting the government's money. W-we too sometimes risk our lives to h-help end the war like e-everyone else... And the A-Adventurer refused the enemy's offer... and decided to say with us. I th-think s/he's good, so I-I wasn't too scared. I-I don't think I can go back again, th-though... I-I need to go rest..."

Jakter: "Good job. We've confirmed that the barrier around the Volcano is weaker. Go rest, Naen."

Anton and the Tartan

Level 85
Quest Giver Hiram
Briefing Hiram: "Commander, before we head out to Anton, I'd like to discuss with you about the Tartan. I think those self-proclaimed worshipers of Anton's are more than meets the eye."

Jakter: "So I thought. I've had someone look into them. We're working against time, but this issue cannot wait any longer. Adventurer, come join us. We'll go over the information we've gathered about the relationship between Anton and the Tartan."
Objectives Go to Woon Lyonir and check the research results.
  • Meet Woon: 0/1
Upon Completion Woon: "Everyone, thank you for coming. Let me tell you about Doctor Naen's research results. She analyzed the DNA and biological waves from Anton and Anton's soldiers that refer to themselves as Prime Tartan. The Tartan share similar waves with Anton, but they are of a completely different race. Contrary to what we thought, Anton did not create them, and they could have looked more similar to Humans in the beginning. According to the data that Doctor Wane has sent us, the four guardians of the Power Stations are also Tartan, but not High-ranking ones. Doctor Naen's theory is this: the normal Tartan are influenced by Anton's spiritual energy and worship him like their creator, whereas the Prime Tartan remain unaffected by Anton. Moreover, they can influence him and other Tartan into doing what they want."

<Player>: "Mm, what does that mean?"

Woon: "In the beginning, Anton and the Tartan were separate entities, but for some reason, the Tartan became more like parasites on Anton. Over time, most Tartan have lost their individuality, but the High-ranking ones remain independent. And now they've evolved to such a level that they can control Anton through a sharing circuit."

<Player>: "You're saying Anton isn't controlling the Tartan. It's the other way around."

The Prime Tartan

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Inside Black Volcano
Briefing Jakter: "I talked to Naen about that, and she thought their relationship is more symbiotic than hierarchical. The brain controls the body, but it's still a part of the body, you know."

Navarre: "It's true that it wasn't Anton but his soldiers--the Tartan--who strategically guarded his weakness and responded to us using military force and strategy."

Jakter: "Anton is godlike in the sense that he's gigantic and capable of absorbing energy. While a majority of Tartan developed some kind of fanaticism over Anton, the few high-ranking ones learned to act like Anton's brain and developed egos as well as their own powers. On the outside, the Prime Tartan are pretending to worship Anton like everyone else, but they're really just using the others and Anton for their own purposes. Now, I wanted to share this information with you all because we'll be heading out to the volcano, the heart of Anton."

Hiram: "It's his most vulnerable spot, so it'll be guarded by their strongest security."

Jakter: "Initially, we planned to destroy his heart, but it didn't seem that crushing his heart would affect him like it would a human. That's why I've looked into the relationship between the Tartan and Anton, in hopes of finding some clues. Now let's go. We'd better enter the volcano while the energy barrier is off. Let's get rid of everything in our way."
Objectives Eliminate Prime Tartan blocking your way into the Black Volcano.
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Kres of Black Smoke:

Kres of Black Smoke: "You dare antagonize us Prime Tartan?! Agnes only wasted her valuable time on you. She should've listened to me. Those who refuse to follow Anton and Mateka will be thrown into the fire!"

Upon defeating Kres of Black Smoke:

Kres of Black Smoke: "Ferman wasn't just unlucky to lose... Mateka... I've failed you... I've worked for the prosperity of us Tartan for so long... in vain..."
Upon Completion Jakter: "Mateka? They're worshiping someone named Mateka, huh? I didn't share this with many people, lest it evokes panic, but Anton kept trying to get to the Imperial Capital ever since he appeared in the Power Station. It was all I could do to hold him back. Then he took up residence in the Power Station, a huge source of energy for him, and wouldn't leave it. That made me wonder if someone else was forcing him to move to the Imperial Capital, and now I know it could've been Mateka."

<Player>: "Why did Mateka want to get to the Imperial Capital?"

Jakter: "Beats me, but it's clear the Prime Tartan worship him just like Anton. Maybe Mateka is the ruler of the Tartan and the brain behind Anton, which means Anton cannot be defeated until Mateka is. With someone like that acting as the brain, Anton isn't just running to the Castle of the Dead. He's going there for some other reason. Whatever it is, we must stop him before he gets there."

Apostle Anton

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Inside Black Volcano
Briefing Jakter: "Is everyone here? Good. We've learned that there are two different ways to get to the heart of the volcano, so we'll split into three groups. One team will continue to destroy the transmitters that fuel the barrier around the volcano crater, while the other two infiltrate the volcano. I can't say which path inside the volcano is safer, but whoever breaks through the enemies first will destroy Anton's heart."

<Player>: "We'll be attacking the brain and the heart at the same time."

Jakter: "That's right. This is going to be the last operation. Will you be with us until the end?"

<Player>: "Of course, I want to see this through."

Jakter: "Okay, thank you. Then please head out to the volcano as soon as you're ready."
Objectives Clear Inside Black Volcano. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Inside Black Volcano cleared
Dungeon Dialogue Upon encountering Omnipotent Mateka:

<Player>: "Are you the leader of the Tartan that control Anton?"

Omnipotent Mateka: "I'm the last heir of the Ulus and the king of the Tartan."

Anton: "No, I am the king of the Tartan and the last heir of the Ulus."

<Player>: "(It's true that they're coexisting. Neither of them is more dominant than the other. He's sharing Anton's strength and will. Mateka himself is Anton's brain! He's strong, but I cannot beat Anton without beating him first.)"
Upon Completion Omnipotent Mateka: "...You're good. I guess this is the end of our evolution and survival."

<Player>: "Anton is an Apostle, but you are not part of him, at least not at the beginning. I don't know why you're coexisting with Anton. Are you also his victims?"

Omnipotent Mateka: "Yes, I've been named Apostle, but how does that make me evil? I went to Pandemonium to live, and I'm absorbing energy to sustain myself. Why are you judging me for that?"

<Player>: "What about those whom you killed in cold blood? Are you going to pretend that never happened?"

Omnipotent Mateka: "Life is insignificant in the grand scheme of things. We've learned that a long time ago. No one grieves for a dead worm. The deaths of the insignificant are meaningless. We tried to break away from the flow and shake the world. I didn't think I'd die in such a place. Hah hah. After I left my hometown, I've seen many worlds and I've learned strength decides everything. I guess we aren't the strongest, though. But don't be full of yourself. You're a mindless sword for someone else, despite the stories of your heroism and journeys."

Anton: "In the end, you're just a tool."

Omnipotent Mateka: "And you'll learn what happens to a tool when it's no longer useful."

Destroy the Heart

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Dungeon Anton's Heart
Briefing Jakter: "Their leaders may have been eliminated, but Anton and the other Tartan remain. They could use the energy left inside Anton's body to launch one last attack. To ensure our victory, we must destroy Anton's heart. Let's hurry."
Objectives Clear Anton's Heart. (This quest cannot be performed in the Anton Raid channel.)
  • Anton's Heart cleared
Dungeon Dialogue Jakter: "The enemy has stopped moving."

Naen: "E-even the T-Tartan have stopped moving."

Hiram: "Our troops who we thought went missing are on their way back."

Navarre: "Does this mean everything's over?"

Jakter: "...It is. Colonel Lyonir, give me the microphone. Ah, ah. Good job, everyone. I, um... Thank you for following my orders so well. We've confirmed Anton's death. At first, this was seemingly impossible, but we beat the odds. Your courage saved Empyrean. Every one of you will receive credit for this victory. All of you will be named heroes in the history of Empyrean. ...That's all. Those who are exhausted or wounded, take a rest. Those who still have some energy left, help your comrades. Now, my friends, let's go back home."

Emergence after Victory

Level 85
Quest Giver Jakter
Briefing Jakter: "Adventurer, this operation couldn't have been successful if it weren't for you. Empyrean beat the odds because of your aid. I really want to drag Anton's body out of the sea and burn it, but it's just too big."

Hiram: "Commander, Anton's body is so big that some parts of it stick out of the sea like some sort of island. Anton's evil energy is affecting the wind and the sea current. This area is already foggy and windy as it is... Um? Commander, that's..."

Jakter: "Adventurer, isn't that what you've been looking for?"
Objectives Go to Jakter and continue with the conversation.
  • Meet Jakter: 0/1
Upon Completion Jakter: "That building is standing upside-down. It's too foggy to see clearly, but I think we know what that is."

Woon: "It's the Inverted Castle, also known as the Castle of the Dead."

<Player>: "The Castle of the Dead! Finally!"

The Wind Blowing upon Pandemonium

Level 85
Quest Giver Iris
Briefing Iris: "The wind told me Apostle Anton's body sank under the sea and is no longer moving. The dead trees in Pandemonium are growing again. What you did was a great accomplishment, but you've also attracted the attention of others in Pandemonium. Many eyes will follow your every move from now on. You lifted the darkness in me and let light in. For you, I can do anything, and my loyalty to you cannot be swayed, even under the thick black clouds of Pandemonium. Adventurer, get help from Empyrean and head out to the Castle of the Dead. That's where you'll find the answer you've been looking for."
Objectives Tell Jakter that you want to go to the Castle of the Dead.
  • Meet Jakter: 0/1
Upon Completion Jakter: "I understand, and I want to help you in any way I can, but this isn't something I can decide on my own. Also, we're too busy cleaning up after this war. Even Her Highness won't be able to help you right away. I'm sorry to say this, but you'll have to wait."

<Player>: "Okay. (Mateka, I mean Anton, called me a tool. Why? Because I helped the Empyrean Royal Army? Iris should be free from Hilder's influence by now, or am I missing something? I can think all I want about this, but I won't be able to find an answer on my own. Anton wanted to get to the Imperial Capital, but he turned toward the Castle of the Dead at the last moment for some reason. I hope I can find some clues in that castle.)"
