Interdimensional Rift (Epic Quests)
This article contains content that was removed. |
The interdimensional rifts are connected to the Otherverse, a place we believed was Hell for thousands of years, where time and space as we know it doesn't exist. The rifts were first discovered by Dark Elves, who hid their existence from the rest of the world. They conducted secret studies, revealing that the world beyond the interdimensional rifts pulsated with raw power. At least , that was what they believed at the the time of their discovery, but now I'm not sure if that's true. There's something about the interdimensional rift that opened up on the Saint Horn that doesn't seem natural. Among those I met was Bakal, who knew I was coming. What do he and his people know that I don't? What's waiting for me at the end of this journey?
Old Quest Summary: For millenniums, the Humans feared the Otherverse and called it Hell. They couldn't understand the world for there was no concept of time and space. Over the last two hundred years, the Humans have studied the Interdimensional Rift and the Otherverse, and learned very little. But I know the Otherverse is a fountain of infinite power. If we Dark Elves can tap into that power, we'll easily overcome all the other races. The power that lies in the dimension, however, could be more than we can handle. Exploiting such a power could be sacrilege, but the rift in spacetime may not be the work of the gods. If so, who else is trying to give us a peak at the forbidden fruit? -From Dark Elf Alchemist Shanto's research journal on the Interdimensional Rift (written in Arad Year 690)

Then, come back to me later." |

[Otherverse] Goblin Kingdom
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Captain Luther |
Dungeon | Goblin Kingdom |
Briefing | Luther: "The interdimensional rift that you're entering has appeared in the Saint Horn on its deck. We at the Resistance are studying it while keeping it secret from the greedy Empire. We were surprised when the rift first appeared. Who knew one of those legendary rifts would show up right before our eyes? Some curious members entered the rift without being prepared, and only a few of them came back out and told us about a place called the Otherverse. They said the Otherverse has no concept of space and time, and it lets you go back in time and access places that exist somewhere in this world, but aren't accessible otherwise. Aren't you excited just hearing about it? The Otherverse is extremely dangerous. Don't go alone, but take some reliable comrades with you. Ah, and there's strong pressure in the Otherverse that prevents you from using your abilities to the fullest. Make sure to wear the gear I gave you. The Exorcism in the gear will help you move in the Otherverse as freely as you would outside. Good luck, my friend!" |
Objectives | Enter the Interdimensional Rift and clear the Goblin Kingdom. Report to Captain Luther. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Upon Completion | Luther: "Welcome back. What did you see?" |
Rewards |

Level | 70 |

Quest Giver | Captain Luther |
Dungeon | Castle Nebulous |
Briefing | Luther: "There's a kingdom of Goblins in a lush forest. Hm, you must have seen the Goblin Kingdom that once existed in the middle of Grand Flores. you went back to a point of time prior to the Great Metastasis. I don't understand why the interdimensional rift would send you to such a place. Ah, are you going to enter the rift again? All right, I won't stop you. Good luck!" |
Objectives | Enter Interdimensional Rift and clear Castle Nebulous. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Upon Completion | Luther: "You explored the Sky Castle. I thought it's completely destroyed and turned into the Inverted Waterfall." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Sky Tower of the Ancients
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Captain Luther |
Briefing | Luther: "Your description of the Sky Tower matches that while Bakal was still alive. Back then, the Sky Tower was enveloped in a thick cloud of magical power that kept ordinary Humans at bay. From afar, the tower looked as if it's shimmering, so the Humans called it the Castle Nebulous. The Goblin Kingdom and now the ancient Sky Tower. I just can't figure out why the interdimensional rift keeps sending you to such dangerous places. Do you know anyone who's knowledgeable in the rift? I can't think of any Human who is." |
Objectives | Relay your experience in the Interdimensional Rift to Sharan and listen to her story. |
Upon Completion | Sharan: "Welcome, Adventurer. I can sense strange energy about you." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Using the Interdimensional Rift
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Sharan |
Dungeon | Rangelus's Guerrillas |
Briefing | Sharan: "You want to hear about the interdimensional rift. May I ask why? ...You already explored the interdimensional rift. Well, then I won't lie. Yes, we Dark Elves found the interdimensional rift some hundreds of years ago, and have been studying about their nature and power ever since. Although we have yet to figure out the whole truth behind the interdimensional rift, we have been able to learn a few things. Some Dark Elves can move between dimensions using the Interdimensional Rift. Although they don't have complete control over the shifting of dimensions, they have been able to utilize the powers of the Otherverse to a certain extent. Unfortunately, these technologies are considered confidential amongst us Dark Elves, so I'm not at liberty to tell you anything more as a Court Mage for the Dark Elves. I can reveal one thing to you: if you enter the interdimensional rift while seeking true power, it will lead you to a place where you will be able to obtain it." |
Objectives | Enter the Interdimensional Rift and clear a dungeon that you have never been given access before. Report to Captain Luther. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Upon Completion | Luther: "If you seek power, it will lead you to a place were you will be able to obtain it. So you're sent to a Kartel base in Arad this time. I've always known this, but the interdimensional rift is where the boundaries of spacetime no longer exist. Thank you for helping us study the interdimensional rift." |

[Otherverse] Rangelus' Guerillas

Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Lady Kiri |
Dungeon | Rangelus's Guerrillas |
Briefing | Kiri: "Rangelus' Guerillas are the most notorious mercenaries in the Lawless District, Empyrean. All of them are equally ruthless, cunning, and strong. They're the reason why I was forced to leave Empyrean. *Shaking her head* Not a good time to feel sentimental. Their presence in Arad can only mean one thing: the Kartel's elite units are about to follow them. Rangelus' Guerillas are the Kartel's vanguard party, and if we don't stop them, Arad will soon meet the same fate as Empyrean. *Shudder* We can't let that happen now, can we?" |
Objectives | Defeat Deputy Dugong, Explosive Jeff, and Gershen Grigun in Rangelus' Guerillas, and then return to Kiri. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Upon Completion | Kiri: "All right! The Kartels have launched an attack, but with their vanguard gone, we'll have some times to strengthen ourselves. More exciting fights are waiting for you. You can feel it, can't you?" |

[Otherverse] Void Rift
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Grandis Gracia |
Dungeon | Void Rift |
Briefing | Grandis: "I have a serious matter that I feel I should be honest with you about. Ever since monsters from the Otherverse began invading through the Interdimensional Rift, the Order of Priests has suspected a link between them and Ozma. You see, if the Otherverse is already unsealed, then there is a possibility that Ozma could escape into our world via the Rift. The Order of Priests has thus been sending agents into the Otherverse, to find evidence of Ozma's presence. Few of these agents returned alive... but a recent team located a major demonic stronghold. They are not strong enough to breech the base, though..."
<Player>: "...So you want me to check out this stronghold, huh?" Grandis: "I do. I have no wish to send you into such peril, but I must ask you to lend us your strength. Now, if you are to do this, you must obtain a certain object from Iris, an energy tracer... *You show her the orb* Oh! Iris is one step ahead of everyone, as usual. All is prepared... I feel that this truly must be the will of God that we are fulfilling. Please, venture into the Void Rift, and find any trace you can of Ozma." |
Objectives | Enter the Interdimensional Rift and clear Void Rift. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Upon Completion | Grandis: "Praise the Lord, you are safe! What have you learned?" |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Clash of Conviction
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Grandis Gracia |
Dungeon | Dark Side |
Briefing | Grandis: "You have done us a great service. Now, take this orb to Iris..."
Iris: "*Iris holds her hand over the orb. Her eyes dart back and forth as though reading invisible signs in the air.*" Grandis: "Lord grant us strength... Ozma... and another with his power. Adventurer. There is no one else I could ever ask this of. Please, for the sake of our Order... for the sake of all... Face Ozma, and strike him down." |
Objectives | Enter Interdimensional Rift and investigate Dark Side in which Ozma has been sighted. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.)
|
Dungeon Dialogue | Upon confronting Michael of the Holy Eye:
Michael: "You do not understand. As long as I remain here, Ozma is trapped. He cannot reach our world. And so... I cannot let you pass. If you truly will not heed my words... then I have no choice..." Upon encountering Ozma of Chaos: Ozma: "Ahh, this brings back memories... You did not have to come all this way, you know. I was on my way to find all of you, I assure you. I suppose I should thank you for saving me the effort..." |
Upon Completion | Grandis: "How... How can this be?! Michael helped found our Order... He led the quest to vanquish Ozma! Why would he stand between you and Ozma? This must be a mistake. You must be mistaken! *Grandis takes a deep breath* I am sorry. This is... very difficult for me to accept. I beg your understanding. For now, I will inform the Order. Please, give me some time." |

[Otherverse] Ozma of Chaos
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Grandis Gracia |
Dungeon | Dark Side |

Objectives | Restrain Michael and defeat Ozma of Chaos in Dark Side. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.)
|
Upon Completion | Grandis: "You did it? Ozma is truly gone? Amazing... but what of Michael? *You tell her what happened* I see. I will inform the Order of everything that has happened. The.. specifics are unimportant of course. Defeating Ozma will give this whole world a new hope for the future." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Return to Iris
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Grandis Gracia |
Briefing | Grandis: "I have sent a full report to the Order of Priests. They seem quite concerned for our future... as we all should be. Oh, forgive my poor mood right now. Iris asked me to send you over. She has something to discuss privately, it seems." |
Objectives | Visit Iris |
Upon Completion | Iris: "You have vanquished Ozma. I can hardly believe such a thing has come to pass. Your victory over pure evil will pass into legend, remembered for all time." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Ulterior Motives
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Iris Fortunesinger |
Dungeon | Void Rift |
Briefing | Iris: "I have a favor to ask. You still have the orb I gave you, of course. Take that orb to a place with strong evil energies, even stronger than you have faced thus far. I will reveal the purpose when you return. I know you will be interested." |
Objectives | Clear Void Rift. (The quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.)
|
Upon Completion | Iris: "Forgive my imposition, but you are simply the only person I know capable of what I ask." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] Gleaming energy
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Iris Fortunesinger |
Briefing | Iris: "The orb consumes evil energies around it, like those released when you fought Michael, Ozma, and other foes in the Otherverse. It appears it has fed well. Now, could you please return the orb to me?" |
Objectives | Give the Gleaming Energy Orb to Iris.
|
Upon Completion | Iris: "Please, restrain your curiosity for just a few moments more... we have much to discuss." |
Rewards |
[Otherverse] The Fate of Empyrean
Level | 70 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Iris Fortunesinger |
Dungeon | Castle of Bakal |
Briefing | Iris: "At last! With all this energy, we can trace our true foe. *She holds her hand to the orb and breaths deeply* I can feel it... so strong... it must be him. Bakal. You must face Bakal, as you have faced the other Apostles, but beware... his power is beyond anything you have faced thus far. Take the path I showed you before to Empyrean of the past. I know you can do this... I need no precognition to say that." |
Objectives | Enter Interdimensional Rift and defeat Bakal in Castle of Bakal. (This quest can only be completed in Single Normal mode.) |
Dungeon Dialogue | Upon encountering Itrenok, the Green Dragon:
Itrenok: "You guys are all weaklings... Not at all what Bakal led me to expect. We prepared quite a reception for you, but if this is all there is, you won't get to see most of it." Upon encountering Neiser, the Black Dragon: Neiser: "Peace lies at the silent Blinding. I will lay you to rest here." Upon encountering Numak, the Gold Dragon: Numak: "I'll give you some credit... it's not easy to get here. You deserve that, at least." Upon encountering Ash Core, the Flame Dragon: Ash Core: "Uhahaha! You guys look like you got some fight in ya! This might be fun! I like people with spirit. 'Cause then I can beat it out of them! Hahaha!" Upon encountering Bakal, the King of Dragons: Bakal: "You... where are you from? Or, should I be asking, when are you from?" <Player>: "We come from 500 years in the future." Bakal: "500 years... must I really wait so long to be challenged?" <Player>: "We're here now, Bakal. History states that you were defeated in the Empyrean Machine Revolution, so consider this a change of plans." Bakal: "What, the Empyreans with their little toys are my undoing? Don't make me laugh! I do not believe you have even thought this through. If you really do kill me here, what happens to your world? Does your history change? Of course not! And what if it does? Suppose you undo your own existence by interfering with the mandate of history?" <Player>: "I... we... Rrgh!" Bakal: "I see you are beginning to understand. Hmmm... 500 years for your species to even think of challenging me... Is Hilder trying to hasten my demise? Ha! *Bakal studies each member of your party* Still... Do you truly believe you can defeat me? Is it possible? So be it... If you truly wish to tempt the fates and destroy the future, I accept your challenge. Perhaps this is our shared fate..." Bakal Dialogue from DFO Lore:
|
Upon Completion | Iris: "I can feel the time stream shifting to accommodate your actions... You have defeated Bakal. My faith in you was well-placed, it seems. However, I can see the battle has left you uncertain. Surely, you do not trust the words of the Dragon King? In part, he was right. It was your destiny to strike him down, and his destiny to be struck down. But you have not destroyed time... you have set it right. You need not take my word for it. This comes from Keening Hilder herself. She warned me that without your intervention, Bakal would rule our world even now. She even told me of the turmoil you would feel now after your battle. Your council is your own, but I ask you, are the Apostles not the root of all chaos? What you have done can only benefit our world..." |

Old Quest Summary:
For thousands of years, Humans have feared the Underworld, also known as Hell. In the Underworld, space and time do not function in the same way as they do in this world. Two hundred years ago, we discovered the very first Interdimensional Rift. We have been studying the nature and power of that portal ever since, learning more than just the basic principles upon which our world operates. The Underworld is a place with an unlimited supply of power, where we Dark Elves can attain incredible abilities by harnessing that power. I'm concerned, though, about the overwhelming nature of that kind of power. Are we capable of wielding it? If God did not open the Interdimensional Rift for us, then who did? Why would someone want to show us another dimension that is full of possibilities and unlimited power? - Quoted from a Report by the Dark Elven Alchemist, Shanto. Estimated Date of Entry: Arad Year 690.

Dorothy's Gateway
Level | 65 |
---|---|

Briefing | Dorothy: "I know not how you found this place, but I cannot allow you to pass. *She peers at you from under the rim of her visor* But you seem different from the others. What business have you here?" |
Objectives | Talk to Dorothy. |
Upon Completion | Dorothy: "*She listens as you explain. After you finish, she sighs.* I can see you have not stumbled here by accident. You are more determined than the others. Against my better judgment, I shall let you pass. Come, follow me." |

The Empire's Blockade
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Dorothy |
Briefing | Dorothy: "*As she speaks, the woman does not remove her hat or make eye contact.* My name is Dorothy. I am an imperial officer, here to guard the Interdimensional Rift from Dungeon Fighters such as yourself. *She gestures toward the rift* As you can see, Interdimensional Rifts, which we thought to be legend, are indeed real. Were you to enter, you would find yourself in the Otherverse, a place where time and space, as we know them, do not exist. We know little else about what lies beyond the rift. You mentioned that you seek powerful equipment from the Otherverse, but I warn you, such treasures will not be easy to obtain. I suggest you bring allies with you. Actually, I suggest you do not go through the rift at all, but I can tell you are determined, so... I bid you good luck, though it will not be enough to save you." |
Objectives | Enter the Interdimensional Rift, clear the Goblin Kingdom, then return to Dorothy. (You can only enter Goblin Kingdom in a 4-person party.) |
Upon Completion | Dorothy: "*Dorothy stares in disbelief as you step out of the rift* You... You made it back alive! This has never happened before! I am thrilled, of course. Overjoyed. But I think I need to sit down." |
Rewards |
A Rift to the Past
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Dorothy |
Briefing | Dorothy: "*Now that you've proven you can handle the Interdimensional Rift, Dorothy seems much more excited. Her eyes seem to burn as you tell her about the rift.* I have studied these rifts, studied them intensely. In all of Grand Flores, the energy of the Devolution is at its most potent here. Exactly here. And you say you've found the Goblin Kingdom inside the rift! In all my studies, no one has ever found the Goblin Kingdom. Actually, no one's ever returned from the rift, period. *Dorothy thinks for a moment* It all seems a little too convenient. I have a hunch, Dungeon Fighter. I think someone purposely placed this rift here, exactly so we'd find that kingdom. I would never suggest you re-enter rift, but if were thinking of heading back through, anyway... I'd be curious to know what else you see." |
Objectives | Unknown |
Upon Completion | Dorothy: "*Dorothy's eyes widen at your report* The Sky Tower? How is that possible? It couldn't possibly be the same Sky Tower we have here. Give me a minute to let this sink in." |
Rewards |
The Tower's Dark Past
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Dorothy |
Briefing | Dorothy: "I wonder if anyone else knows about the Sky Tower within the Interdimensional Rift. *Dorothy laughs* No, of course no one else knows about it. Where did I even get such a ridiculous notion?" |
Objectives | Unknown |
Upon Completion | Sharan: "My, my, Dungeon Fighter. You are surrounded by a strange aura today. *You explain going through the rift and seeing Sky Tower, and Sharan gives a knowing nod* The Sky Tower you saw was the Sky Tower from 500 years ago, back when the tower was surrounded by Bakal's dark magic. It was barely more than a speck in the sky back then. They called the tower Castle Nebulous because it looked like little more than a mirage. Humans never ventured to the castle, but a few brave and powerful Dark Elves did. Most were killed by Bakal's minions, but a few Mages survived. They documented their experience, which is how I know what I know." |
Rewards |
Harnessing the Rift
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Sharan |
Briefing | Sharan: "Today, humans consider the story about the Dark Elves and the Interdimensional Rift little more than legend, but it is no myth. You see, we found an Interdimensional Rift some hundreds of years ago and have been studying the nature and power of the rift ever since. We have learned that some Dark Elves can move between dimensions using those rifts, though they have no control over where they end up. Some have also learned to manipulate the powers of the Otherverse. Unfortunately, that is all I can reveal. The details are confidential, and I will not betray my people, not even for you. But I will tell you one other thing. If you enter a rift seeking true power, the rift will lead you to a place where you can obtain it." |
Objectives | Unknown |
Upon Completion | Dorothy: "First, Sky Tower, and now, the Kartel fortress. Truly, time and space do follow their own laws within the Interdimensional Rift. Fascinating." |
Rewards |
Guerillas in the Mist
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Dorothy |
Briefing | Dorothy: "That the Kartels built such a powerful fortress on this continent is disturbing. You must find someone who can give you more information about their fortress." |
Objectives | Unknown |
Upon Completion | Kiri: "Hey, you. How's it going? *You explain what you saw at the Kartel fortress, and Kiri's face turns uncharacteristically grave* Rangelus's Guerrillas... That's who you saw. This is bad, Dungeon Fighter." |
Rewards |
Kiri's Plea
Level | 65 |
---|---|
Quest Giver | Lady Kiri |
Briefing | Kiri: "Rangelus's Guerrillas are a mercenary group known through the deserts and the Lawless District of Empyrean. They're sly, strong and more despicable that words can express. I came to Arad to avoid them, but I cannot keep running. No, this time, we must face them head on. If they're here, it means they have their eyes on Arad. They'll inevitably expand. They want to rule here. Dungeon Fighter, we cannot allow that to happen." |
Objectives | Unknown |
Upon Completion | Kiri: "It is amazing what this rift allows us to accomplish. You've bought us some time with the Kartels by defeating their advance guards, all because of the rift. Wonderful!" |
Rewards |
